Robin Hood Festival – visitor numbers reach 10 year high!
Updated on: 7 August 2007
The legend of Robin Hood is alive and well in Sherwood Forest – just ask any one of the 75,000 visitors that enjoyed themselves at the Robin Hood Festival last week.

The Festival, which took place last week (30th July – 5th August) in Sherwood Forest, attracted over 75,000 visitors and Sunday 5th August was the busiest day Sherwood Forest has seen in ten years!
“The Robin Hood Festival proved to be extremely popular again this year with visitors from all over the UK, Europe and many other parts of the world,” said Izi Banton, Manager of Sherwood Forest Country Park & Visitor Centre.
Visitors to the Festival were also given the chance to find out more about Sherwood’s BIG Lottery bid. The Sherwood: the Living Legend trailer which was opposite the Major Oak all week displayed artists impressions and a model of the proposed new visitor complex, as well as information about the plans to triple the size of the current forest site and connect it to four counties with a world class network of walking, cycling and horse riding paths.
Austin Brady, Forestry Commission Regional Director for East Midlands and Chair of the Sherwood: the Living Legend Partnership said: “Nearly 2,000 visitors to the Festival pledged their support for the bid at our stand. We had a lot of positive feedback and support from Notts residents and visitors alike. We‘re confident that we’ll go through to the TV vote in December, but it’s important that people sign up their contact details so we can let them know how and when to vote in December.
